England newborn screening proposal submitted to UK NSC

A formal proposal for inclusion of SMA in the NHS England newborn bloodspot screening programme was submitted to the UK National Screening Committee in early 2026. Scotland has screened every newborn for SMA since 2021. The UK NSC will now consider the evidence before making a recommendation.
